A smooth chart is not a guarantee
Historical price variability describes a reported path. Credit, valuation and liquidity risks can remain even when that path looks smooth. A source risk category is not a promise about future losses.
Different questions need different evidence
Drawdowns describe peak-to-trough losses in a properly constructed wealth series. Credit research examines issuer obligations and ratings. Duration examines sensitivity to interest-rate movements. Liquidity concerns the ability to meet dealing or sale needs under the relevant conditions.
Read the unknowns
No default disclosed does not prove no default exposure. An unreported credit rating is not automatically a poor rating. Check the reporting period, source definitions and available coverage before comparing funds.
